I would have to say about the only embarrassment I have had in a while was the whole thing about lying under oath about having sex with that woman, I mean really it is bad enough you cannot keep your infidelity and sex scandals to yourself, heavens knows many other men have, but to get on television and wag your finger at the camera and lie that you did not have sex with that woman.
And then of course parsing the meaning of is. That one still gets told to me today in other countries.
There are many other things that upset me about my country but none embarrass me about being an American.
I spend six to eight months a year traveling in other countries, they love Americans, love the American culture (not to be confused with multi-culturalism), love our sports, music and especially our money and economic strength.
So if and when you do travel overseas you will be well received and treated quite well. Many people only get their news there from CNN or BBC so it is a pretty slanted opinion of what is really happening but they like to talk about it. They really seem to want to know more.

Well both parties have done things that embarass me as an american. They are so stupid they want homeland security but they will not close the border to mexico. They will not deport the illegals who are a burden on our legal system, health care, Jails and education system as well. Also they cannot come together to come up with a plan to fight terrorism properly and I am totally sick of the lack of support by Americans who do not support our troops. There are many more but these are just a few.

umm the most embarrassing thing would have to be them blowing up their own ******* buildings....yea remember 9/11? if u think the Iraqis did it good for u but i have news for u, our own government planned the whole thing. and that my friend is pretty embarrassing. the second thing is how they changed the ******* cover up story so many times, so once again the whole 9/11 was embarrassing. and that incident is big enough to embarrass anyone twice or three times.

Torture cells in various countries to avoid UN detection and inspection by the Red Cross.
Being a Marine I'd hate to be on the other side of this and be tortured in retaliation of our Governments misguided attempt at avoiding standard prisoner or war treatment.
