For one of my college courses, we must write on a research topic given to us. We must include groups, politicians, etc. that are for or against the topic. I was given the topic of child abuse, and since I don't know of any groups that are for child abuse, I decided to use corporal punishment or spanking, since some people see this as a form of child abuse.

My question for y'all is: Does anyone know of any groups, organizations, etc. that feel as though corporal punishment is okay?

Thanks in advance!

Some right wing groups, like perhaps Focus on the Family, believe in corporal punishment, because they think that if boys are treated gently then they will become gay, which would be the worst thing to happen in their eyes.

You probably won't find this on their website, but I heard it was in some books by James Dobson.

Another thing, is that currently the California government is going to be debating a bill banning spanking. I'm sure if you look hard enough, you will find some lawmakers opposed to the law (try the Sacramento Bee, it has the best coverage of the state capitol).

I know that here in Australia, corporal punishment is on the govt agenda currently. There is brouhaha against legislating against it. Maybe if you check the smh website and type in 'corporal punishment' you'll get some relevant info.

Good luck.

As derogatory as it may sound; it is true that Religious groups world over are frequently advocates of corporal punishment I would suggest looking into baptist and catholic blogs and chat rooms and asking them for reference material (bear in mind that the most zealous are skiddish and suspicious)

All bible thumping Christians believe in corporal punishment... "spare the rod, spoil the child"... totally biblical.
