You can do it through software or through BIOS. But better read some basics of overclocking first before you do anything. You need to understand the significance and effect of every adjustment that you will make and so that you will not be surprised by sudden BSOD. You also need the tools of the trade.

You might be able to pick some pointers here.

that's possibly no longer threat-free to overclock the device to intense ranges, yet somewhat shouldn't harm. also word that doing any form of overclocking with third party software (software no longer made via the employer that made the factors) will maximum possibly void your assure. If it is your images Card (or GPU) you're overclocking, then regularly you are able to get carry of software from the producer's internet web site that could be sensible you. i recognize ATI and Nvidia both provide their own software.

My simple advice: don't do it!

Intel processors will either burn quickly or get in a protective lock state if you do.

On my Pentium D 2.66Ghz, overclocking the CPU just one step stops it from working completely (automatic protection). On older ones you could do it but they really do burn quickly, whereas a regularly clocked Intel CPU can last over a decade if it has proper ventilation.

You can overclock by FSB settings which is the easiest way, BUT beware, temperatures will increase and need to be monitored carefully when under load.
