I prefer simple flip phones, and for the most part, stick to basic functions. I like older model Samsungs for their simplicity, durability, and ease of customization of navigation. I am trying the Samsung Stripe (from T-Mobile) right now, and I am really peeved by it. With a lot of its shortcomings, I am contemplating shelling out another $100 for the KRZR (2-year contract).

For spending that much, I would like a phone that will last some time. Will the KRZR survive occasional drops? How damaged will the external shell be--just minor scratches or deep ones? ...

Any suggestions would be great. T-Mobile's phone selections are disappointing.

I doubt it. I've had some friends that've owned the Razr. A couple of them dropped it and it just shattered into a million pieces. I had a Motorola V400, or something like that, for like 3 years and it was pretty durable after several drops. I just upgraded this year to the Sony w810i and bought a silicone skin to slip over it to help with impacts. You should try that. It seems to help. The only real durable Motorola's are the ones made for Nextel. It helps when they're as big as bricks!

I dont reaaly know if the motorola KRZR K1 is a durable phone but it probably isn't. Most newer phones these days are very fragile, however old nokia's are really though phones I have an older nokia with colour screen and camera and have dropped it, burned it, steped on it, dropped it in water and have played catch games with it and it is still perfectly fine. However new phones are cool but as i said more fragile

Motorola in general makes durable phones, this one being no different. I have used and dropped this one many times. However like any phone if you happen to drop it and it lands the wrong way, it could break the first time. Be sure to carry the insurance option

Motorola phones are often very durable, if you drop often the phone, it will only have minor scratches
