1. If the government can't pay its bills, then either costs must be cut, or taxes must be raised. So long as we are at war, it will be impossible to cut costs. So, currently, taxes should be raised.

2. If the Dems gain power in 08, taxes probably will be raised. If the war is still going on, there will be little choice. Even if not, so much has been cut already, and some of these cut programs were necessary. They will likely need to restore many programs ruined by the current regime, and this may result in higher taxes.

There is another part of the equation missing from this question, though. The war and the cut programs will still be relevant, even if the Dems DON'T gain power in 08. Republicans are starting to come to their senses on many issues, as is evident from the lack of support they are beginning to show toward the White House. I'd bet the farm that taxes will be raised regardless of who takes control.

Taxes most definitely should have been raised when the wars started. This is the first time in American history that taxes were lowered during a time of war. What is going on now is weakening our future. Making the next generation pay for a war of this one is ridiculous just as ridiculous as deficit spending when taxes could be raised or the war could've been ended. I almost guarantee a tax hike in the future, because it will be necessary.

The dems will raise taxes for their pet pork projects.

They like to pat the taxpayers on the head and say, "Now little children. We know how to spend YOUR money much better than you do. The only thing you want to do is feed your families, send children to college, save for retirement and buy things to expand the economy. We know it is much more important to spend billions on project that help only a few people in our districts."

Democrats tend to raise taxes, but when taxes are lowered, the economy seems to surge upwards because more people have excess money in their pockets.

The only reason i would accept a tax raise is if they put into effect a federally funded health care system like the United Kingdom has.

Having to buy health insurance is not fair to the common person

Should taxes be raised? NO! Would Democrats raise taxes? Of course they will, always do. They want to control everything you do, even your money and how it is spent, they want to control how you think, how you work, even rules on how you play.

Taxes should be cut not raised.

However, Democrats love to steal our money through heavy taxation, so if they do win they will tax us to death and give the money away in new social programs.
