Lil story for you which will gross you out. I have a friend whom I work with. He had a HUGE spider which lived on his front porch for weeks...it nevered bothered him, he let it stay...even named it Charlotte. Ok, before work, he was on his porch wearing his undershirt and he had his work shirt draped over the railing...it blew off the porch, he picked it up and put it on. So he works the lunch shift, no problem. He goes to the bathroom during the dinner shift, looks in the mirror and notices a huge black moving object under his shirt. He obviously squishes it in his shirt b/c he was freaked out. The darn spider had been chilling in his shirt ALL day and he didn't even know it. He had an 8 inch diameter stain on his shirt from that huge bugger. Ewwww, it disgusts me to think about it. We now call him Spidey/Spiderman/Guts by the way.
Long story, I know...but ugh, that is one of the worst spider things I have seen.

Let them live. They eat bad bugs like mosquitoes and flies! As I said before, I like spiders! Just think, the spider you smash may be Charlotte!

Honestly?...read up on them. I have total arachnophobia, but then I started studying them, taking pictures of them in my yard, and comparing them to pictures I found on the web so I could learn more about them. They are very good for the environment, and you would be surprised how much you would end up not really minding having them around.

Well, if it was in my house, I'd find a way to kill it. If it was a REALLY big spider, I'd run like hell! (no, I'd try to kill it some way. I hate spiders! Especially tarantulas and brown recluses and of course, black widows.

As long as they are not in my bedroom I leave them alone. I figure they must be eating something, so I let them do their job. As for the ones I find in my bedroom - s q u i s h.

use double sided tape to pick it up and then stick it on someone...it's quite funny. Or to their door knob. They either freak out when they see it, or they don't notice it until it's stuck to their hand and they're running around trying to shake it off.

put a cup over them, slide a piece of paper under it, carry it outdoors like that, then set the paper down and remove the cup. Viola!

I try to ignore them, but if one is terrorizing me, he gets the shoe once I quit grossing out and screaming.
