Sri lanka is a grate team in this WC. They have shown their capability in past few years.But considering past time we had seen that most of cricket fans talk about australia,India,SA or NZ
will win this WC. what is the reason for this neglection.......

Sri lankan cricket have blossomed over the past few years. Before they won the world cup in 1996, Sri lanka was just a little promising unit of talent that had to prove themselves. They did it in the 1996 world cup successfully changing the way cricket was played with fast run scoring in the first 15 overs of the match (Power Play's). World class players like Jayasuriya, Aravinda, Ranatunga were part of that historical performance. Their coach at the time Dav Whatmore, was responsible for the effort of preparing that world cup team that won the 1996 match at Lahore Vs Australia.
Most people that are very knowledegeable about cricket never rode the Sri Lankans off for the 2007 world cup. They know after looking at the wickets and the conditions in the West Indies that they will help the Sri lankans. If some neglected the Sri Lankans it may be because they are some times inconsistant with thier performances (you can't win all the time right!). The Important thing is that Tom moody (Australian All-rounder), the present coach of Sri Lanka is doing a terrific job. and the Sri Lankans with great players like Kumar, Murali (World greatest spin wizard), Vaas, Jayasuriya and Mahela (skipi) in the 2007 world cup matches have brought once again that desire and the motivation to win the world cup in 2007. So for those fans who neglected Sri Lanka, Well look at what we have here Sri Lanka are the 2nd semi finalists behind Australia.

That's the way the Sri Lankans play their cricket. They peak at the correct time and strike at the opposition with awesome venom. They are indeed a well knit team and most important of all the juniors in their team and even their captain Jayawardena looks to Jayasuria for help, guidance and inspiration and even respects that guy, who in my opinion is a perfect all-rounder. They are perhaps the most unglamorous of all cricketers and that is probably why fans don't talk of them highly.

Sri Lanka is a very small Island with lots of talents not only in cricket. They won 1996 Cricket world cup, In sprinting Susanthika won a bronze medal in Olympics,

Srilankan team since the days of Ranatunga and A.De Silva have been known to be gritty and underdogs for quite some time. Even in earlier cups before these great playes like minnows bangladesh and Ireland now , in those days Srilanka had also sprung surprises. However they are world class team now.
