We don't. some of us may want to have lighter or whiter skin. But being white, i don't think so.

That distinct pleasure is not only for the Filipinos; you ought to see it going on in the Arab world. I'm an American (Prussian descent) living over here in Saudi Arabia; every once in a while you'll see these commercials how a girl won't get a job, unless she lightens her skin, so out comes this little tube of Fair and Lovely; her skin miraculously becomes lighter and she gets the job.

If you're referring to skin color... then it's because filipinos are naturally dark skinned. And filipinos usually desire the "mestizo/mestiza" look, just because it's somewhat foreign and rare. It's a cultural thing, hence why most celebrities in the Philippines are light-skinned... they stick out. It's all similar to the way white people in America like to get tans... because bright white is so common.

Some time ago an African women asked my mom why God had given African people this curse of having dark skin. My mom didn't know what to say, but I told her to say that this was a blessing, they wouldn't have survived in Africa without the dark skin. Now, I think all people with dark skin, deep within themselves, want to be white. This may be because white people in Europe and North America have been so successful in economy and technology. If the skin color would have been reversed, maybe white people would have dreamed of being dark.

Hmmm. Why do you think that Filipinos would love to be white. I think your question strongly represents your ignorance, because it is such a bigoted generality. My suggestion to you is to try to become more knowledgeable about a topic before seeking affirmation of your prejudice.

Huh?
Are you implying that Filipinos have a massive inferiority complex?

Inferiority complex I would say. Since "white" is considered mainstream or 'normal' in many parts of the world... non-white people often feel pressure to blend in with white culture to be considered acceptable or normal. Its kind of stupid if you think about it.
