1996 Honda CRV - when locking using keys driver door will lock, then about 60 seconds later remaining doors will lock. This is not always the case, othertimes remaing doors will remain unlocked. Also when driving you can hear the central locking system locking and unlocking.

It could be your car battery. We had problems with trying to unlock central locking.

Full central locking is dependent upon the driver's lock. The actuator has a switch built into it to determine if the door is locked or unlocked. These switches go bad and either won't register the position change or can sit "on the edge" causing the other locks to cycle randomly. Chances are very good you need to replace the actuator for the driver's door lock.

It sounds like you have a bad accuator. My wife's car has this system. When hers went out it wouldn't even allow her to use the remote. We went to the dealer and they wanted like $300.00 to fix it. The part only costs about $75.00. But you have to know which one is bad and you have to be very very careful if you try to change it yourself. I actually broke a little plastic molded piece and had to buy a door from the junk yard just to get a whole new mechanism because the dealer said that replacement parts weren't available for the piece I broke. Otherwise, once it goes all the way out you'll just have to use a key all the time.

Probably a bad relay. Take it to the dealership...don't trust that to a local mechanic.
