Subtract 26w from each side to get into quadratic form:

5w^2 - 26w - 24 = 0

Now you can solve using your normal methods.

(5w + 4) (w - 6) = 0

So, w = 6 or w = -4/5

~ Hope that helps!

first get everything on one side of the equation:
5w^2 - 26w - 24 = 0
Now a = 5, b = -26 and c = -24 These are the values you will plug into the quadratic formula.

w = [-(-26) +/- sqrt((-26)^2 - 4(5)(-24))]/2(5)
w = [26 +/- sqrt(676 + 480]/10
w = (26 +/- 34)/10

so w1 = (26 + 34)/10 = 60/10 = 6

and w2 = (26 - 34)/10 = -8/10 = -4/5

good luck!

You need to have one side equal to zero and one side with the variables and constant

5w^2 - 26w - 24 = 0

Try to factor or use quadratic formula:

nothing will multiply times 5 easily to give you - 24 if you try to factor so let's use the Quad. Form.

w = -b +/-sqrt(b^2 - 4ac) / 2a

w= -(-26) +/-sqrt((-26)^2 - 4(5)(-24)) / 2(5)

w= 26 +/-sqrt(676 + 480) / 10

w= 26 +/-sqrt(1156) / 10

w= 26 +/- 34 / 10

w= 26 + 34 / 10 = 60/10 = 6 or w = 26 - 34 / 10 = -8/10 = -4/5

So,
w = 6, -4/5
