I agree that was a good question. I know a lot of gothic people..my brother went through a gothic stage and all his friends dressed in black and partied and drank etc. Just crazy and like airhead like. It's like their minds were clouded kind of like dumb blondes. What I heard is that it's suppose to be a way to find themselves and escape reality all at the same time. Like they are in mourning. I think that everyone has a bit of gothic in them and a bit of barbie in them well from a girls point of view. Dark and gloomy and bright and cheerful. Some do it just because of the fashion and its what's hot at the time or though it would look cool on them and then there's those that do it cause they are outcasts and it goes with their feelings. I had a problem with one of them saying it was because they go through hard times...I went through cancer ...my *** should have been in black but it just wasn't me. Whatever they were going through like not fitting in was nothing compared to having a health problem. At least they are healthy. They have to remember life is not like that all the time. High School may be bad but it's over at some point. Plus they may be really cool somewhere else .

Nothing makes gothic people that way, its just the way they are. In a way, we're lucky that at this point and time there is a subculture that can embrace gothic people, who throughout most of history have had no identity or place to feel like themselves. Goths see the bad in the world along with the good, and they don't shy away from the bad, since its a part of life. That doesn't mean they actively court bad things to happen, just that they recognize that they constantly do happen. In short, they're realists. Personally, I've always been like this, even when I was trying to be other things. My aunt told me that when I was 6, I came up to her and said "I've got some problems with the universe." The fact that goth has turned into a fad for teenagers is somewhat frustrating, yet understandable. Remember that they're not really goth, they just like the look.

I asked the same question to a young guy who was Gothic, just b4 he hung himself. This is what he said......
Um well, i have always been attracted to the spirit realm. I've been searching for answers, no one ever understood me, so I wanted to find something, or someone that would except me as i am, I'm lost, lonley and needed to be found. So i found Lucifer (Satan) and his under world of pain, death, suicide and hatred toward my family, God and the truth. Satan has my soul, he wants me dead so i can be with him for all of eternity in the lake of fire where all his lost souls are and he is winning. That's Gothics or emos is another name for them. I never saw that guy again till i heard what he did, he hung himself, 2 weeks after i asked him that same question. You are a sitting target for Lucifer and his fallen angels, he will get you to turn from everything that represents the light, he wants you under a cloud of darkness, depression, hatred, sorrow and death. My advise to you is, DON'T GO THERE, turn away from the darkness there are people out there, here, and in your family that love you and want to help you. Scream out to God "Jesus", he will pull you from the fire of hell!

I am not but I kind of think I know why, they might have had an interest in vampires inspired by books and movies and liked dressing the part, heck I thought that would be fun doing once when I worked the graveyard, dressing like a vampire. Another reason is maybe cuz it was an easy style to keep up, heck black goes with everything.

well i'm not exactly gothic. i don't label myself; i act and dress like a half prep half emo skater. i don't walk around the mall to all the preppy stores saying ''OMG JK " and i can't skateboard worth crap so thats why i just don't bother labeling myself. nothing made me that way i chose to be me and thats me. --
