I dont want any info about what happened to John Wilkes Booth, or about his funeral.

I need to know how his assassination effected the people.
I need some more info about things like Andrew Johnson took over and he had no wish to help or protect ex-slaves.

Please and thank you!

Lincoln's assassination really only affects history between 1865 and 68. US Grant would still have been elected President in 68, because victorious war generals always get elected after the President in office when the war ended leaves office.
Essentially, Reconstruction was much more vengeful and retributive against the South than it otherwise would have been. Lincoln was a respected leader in the Republican party, so he had influence among the more radical super-majority (ie, able to override veto) in Congress and could have moderated their policies. Johnson was barely a Republican, Lincoln picked him as a running mate to get a broader coalition in the 1964 election. As Johnson was not respected by the Congress, he had virtually no power, and the Radical Republicans got to establish their Reconstruction regime without any moderating influence.
You probably wouldn't have had the South divided into military districts and occupied, you might have had slightly less stringent repatriation rules. I'm fairly certain the 14th and 15th Amendments would still have come up for ratification, and they would have passed because the legislatures in the South would still have been run by carpetbaggers and freedmen.
It had a big psychological impact on the country, but in terms of actual policy it probably wouldn't have changed much.

I just studied this.... Well Andrew Johnson became president but he wasnt that great, but congress passed the military districts act, and the 14th, and 15th amendments that helped support freedom.
