two answers, YES and NO...

Yes, you can move a harddrive for an old computer to a new one, you will have the storage space, and any readable files.

NO, you will (most likely) not be able to boot windows from that HD, as it's drivers are all set for the older computer. that means that any windows installed programs will not be able to be used. You may be able to reinstall windows(and drivers for the new system) to use it like this, but if this is your plan, then you may need to reinstall the programs anyway.

why would you want to, HD's are getting cheap! just get a new one!

Yes you can add a Hard Drive from an older system as long as the Hard Drive is compatable with the new system. Make shure that the Hard Drive is set as secondary. Of course this is just to answer the question about the possability, it would of course depend specifics of your situation.

Yes. As long your old hard drive does have same IDE connection. Old hard drives always an IDE anyway. And 99% of Mainboard today supports IDE.

Yes.

There's no problem with using old drives in a new computer. It is more tricky to use a new drive in an old computer.

Yes, if its compatible.

I suggest you buy a new hardrive and copy the contents of your old one on to it.

Hard drives are cheap these days

If it's not the drive where your OS is on. I had the experience that the system configuration won't work any more and you have to reinstall it.

If you mean with the same OS, no. You can install it as a master or slave, but in either case the OS will not work. If it is a slave, everything else will: files, photos, etc.
