I would say basketball, both for the girls and the guys. That's how it was in my high school.

Football without a doubt. Everybody goes to the games, whole communitiest ride on the success of teams, the rivalries with other schools are better than any rivalry in collegiate or professional sports. High school football is without a doubt the most competetive sport ever because they want to win more than college football teams do, and more than NFL teams do.

depends what state ur in, and what part of the state and how large the school is, but if i were to say one itd have to be basketball because not many people over in europe in high school are very fond of football (american). but if just for the us then probably football because the number of players that are on a football team normally outnumbers a basketball team by a lot.

Basketball is probably the most popular high school sport followed by football. Probably because of the amount of hype given to top athletes who are courted for scholarships.

As far as how many people attend games and the hype, football generally is. In some schools it may depend on the success of the programs.
