I tried to change a setting a while ago so I could burn DVDs but gave up on it. I forgot how to change that setting back. It was something about DMA. I can't play DVD's on my computer because of that setting change. I need to change it back to normal.

Unplug your DVD drive first and access the computer. Go to My Comp, right cick on it Prop and Device manager. Check out for DVD drive. They wont be there. Then again reconnect it and do the same progress. It will detect and install as a new part. Now u r DVD drive will turn normal. Or

Go to CONTROL PANEL,Add or Remove Drives. Delete ur DVD and shut down. Then Restart and Go to CONTROL PANEL,Add or Remove Drive and install

I'm not sure how you changed a DMA setting on the drive, could you be thinking about DLA? DLA is drive letter access.

Anyway, to see what you have to change, go to My Computer, click and you'll see the DVD drive, then right-click on the drive icon.

Go to Properties, make sure the "Use with DLA" has a checkmark besdie it. Then go to DLA, make sure the box is checked.

Hope this helps, if its not DLA then I'm stumped.

you can't change it to a dvd rw to a read only, you may have changed the DMA settings but just go to bios and set everything back to original specks.

If you are just removing and replacing drives, there is no need to change settings.. Windows will recognize it with the drivers that come with the drive.
