Psychologists are finding out amazing things about the brain. In some cases when a large portion of the brain has been removed or rendered useless the brain is able to form new connections over time to make up for the functions lost. There are people with only half a brain, who have formed these new connections and are able to lead normal lives. We still aren't sure how or why this happens though.

Yes i also have seen a story about people like that.
Some people with severe epilepsy can have a hemisphere removed and usually are fine...although the younger you are the better you handle it.....its to do with rewiring the brain.
I don't know much about it but what I understand i know both hemispheres can actually do the same thing on both, but its better to have both hemipsheres to help function properly. Your brain has to learn to functionusing only 1 hemishere like people after strokes or brain injury or parts of the brain.
I don;t think they take the ENTIRE part of the brain but leave of the primative parts that do important things like controlling breathing, heartbeat etc (its way down near the base of the brain).

The brain is extremely adaptive, especially in the young. This is known as neuroplasticity.

the right half of your brain is your more creative side and your left half is your more logical side. and he'll be handicapped for life because certain areas of your brain control different functions in your body.
