From what I have heard, They are finishing up the season, not cancelling it. The reason that they call it "The last five episodes" is because it is the last set of episodes for this story. The next season of Heroes will be an entirely new story, with new characters and a new scene.

No way are they going to be canceling Heroes, because it is one of the most watched shows on NBC. I think it's just 5 episodes left of this season.

They've got a huge build up to the season finale in may. Then you just have to wait until fall for a new season. (And give them time to dream it up - it's going to be hard to top this amazing start!)
