I am not breast feeding.

The labels of supplements say not for lactating women.

I eat 3-4 meals a day but do not gain weight. I have been like that all my life. That's why I would like to take protein shakes to help me put on a little more weight.

You need food when you are lactating, not protein shakes. I have never heard of a vitamin you shouldn't take. Many doctors prescribe a pre-natal vitamin for lactating women. You should not take herbal remedies with out the doctor's OK.

Some vitamins do not leave your system (or the baby's) quickly and can cause harm.

Vitamin E is one you should be careful of - I remember this from when I was feeding.

You should contact your lactation consultant about your dietary concerns to make sure what you want to do is safe.

It is carried to the baby in their milk. You can overdose your baby on things the child does not need.
