Every book reveals something about the author. The person wrote the book, wether it be fact or fiction, some sign of that person is going to show, wether it be through a progressive theme or the choice of language patterns or the development of characters, the author shows themself everywhere, it's only human to do so.

In some cases, YES. In others, NO. Depends on the particular novel and ofttimes, if the author wrote it under their real name or a pen name.
