He might have done something, yes, but that is putting too much pressure on him. Keep in mind, if you hit the ball once every three at-bats, you get an average of .333 which would put you in the running for the batting title. It is too much to expect anyone, even someone as hot as A Rod, to produce on every clutch at- bat. Even Jeter can't come close to this.

Still, I was waiting to see if someone got a hit to bring A Rod to the plate. I must admit, I would not have been shocked to see a 2 run game tying homer from the man.

A Rod could have had a chance later on in the year. Papelbon is very good with his spotting. Jeter is a better clutch hitter. A-Rod did a number on a couple of teams this year with the walk off grand slam and his more recent homers. I would have voted on Jeter doing the clutch hitting over ARod.

Always a chance but I don't think so. Papelbon was tight on and A-Rod didn't seem to have the groove that he had last night. Still think the Sox would have one. (I am a homer, though, so I'm a little biased.)

lol not a chance jonathan papelbon is not the kind of pitcher whos just gonna give up a homerun.even if A-rod has been so hot and he seems to be hitting everything, but papelbon is very consistant and he knows wat kind of pitches he needs to throw at the right time.besides hes dominant and hes unstoppable.he also knows how to handle the pressure and doesnt let it get to him.even if A-rod tied the game, the redsox would,ve probably came back to win the game becuz there on a role.
ps:hes not just gonna blow the save the way mariano rivera did.
sox leading series 2-0 how do u like that .
GO REDSOX!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Not if Johnathan Papelbon is pitching, A-Rod is not good enough to hit his splitter. He'll foul off the first fastball, then fish for a splitter in the dirt for strike two, then watch another splitter for strike three.

With the way he's destroying the ball right now, anything is possible. He is human though and people can't expect him to get the key hit every game.
