Edit: noticing that you managed to leave out the verb, I was assuming you wanted "won the World Series". The Yanks have managed to lose the Series more recently -- 2003, to Florida.

The Yankees were last in the World Series in 2003. The last time they won was 2000.

In the year 2000 the Yankees finished a dynasty of the late 90's winning in 1996, 1998, 1999, & then in 2000. It is ironic that the same team that defeated the Yankees in 1997 preventing this five year streak is the same team that defeated the Yankees in their last trip to the World Series in 2003.

oh yea it was last year. SIKE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.they last won a world series in 2000.and since then,they made two more trips to the worldseries but they lost both times to the diamond backs and marlins.
ps:the redsox have won a world series more recently. how do u like that yankee fans. GO REDSOX!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
