I participate in auditions for some of the well-known musical theater programs in my home, the state of kansas. I have just recently made my schools honor choir for the incoming 8th grade class. This is a much larger aceivement than it seems because There are many people that are in my grade that would probably make it on broadway if they wanted to.I have no doubt that if I put this on my resume it wouldnt make that much of a difference to someone who has given roles to people that are some of the most talented people in the entire state. If I added this to my resume, will it help?

You'll have a section for "theater" where you put what you've performed in. You can also have a "music" section, where you put your vocal range and any additional singing experience. That's where you can put honors choir.

Find a way to say it a bit simpler. Most eighth graders don't even try out for their choir. If you can sing, that will come out during the auditions. If you were not chosen for a role in the musical theater, then that does not belong on your resume, just the roles you won and played. Don't worry, at your age, the accomplishments you already have will be enough.
What the auditions for roles you did not win will do, is to train you to become better and better with each one. So, even if your resume is still blank, your talent will not be -and that's what will win you all your work.

Lot's of good answers!

I'd suggest you add it, any hint at a different facet of your character is welcome on a resume - especially things that you are passionate about.

Generally, people simply don't care which shows you've done (everyone has played Tony or Maria in West Side Story) but more who you've worked with and where.

When I'm scanning a resume I look for names I know - perhaps directors, names of theaters or teacher's names.

Break a leg!

probably not. just write musical experience. You may know the challenging choir program and some other schools in the district but the chances of one of those directors knowing, is slim and it might just seem too trivial and juvenile. But congratulations on making the honor choir and good luck on your auditions.

They want to know the roles you have played. They don't have time to read your biography.

Make a list of the roles and characters you played, well as the theatres.
