Early last week I posted a question re: restoring my computer to it's original state. I realize I did not provide adequate information, I apologize!!
I have a Dell Inspirion Laptop, operating system, Windows XP Home. I am needing to do a original state restoration(NOT A SYSTEM RESTORE) My kids have lost my original XP cd!!! I really need the help of those of you who are very knowledgable in this area!!! I am in a state of panic!!!!
Some of the issues I'm having are, (to name only a few!!!) there are things(files) under administrator, that I can't access, this I do not understand, because I am the only user, also an administrator, of this computer, tons of my files are duplicated ie; music, pictures on this computer, taking up valuable space, I currently have only 12% available!!!
PLEASE I BEG OF YOU WHO KNOW SOOOO MUCH MORE THAN I DO!!!!!!! I need step by step instructions on what to do........IF, IN FACT, THERE IS ANYTHING,........... I CAN DO!!!! DESPERATELY,KAREN

If you have a D:/ drive and it has recovery files, you can restore your computer to ist original state by pressing F11 at startup. You will lose all of your files and saved documents. Also any programs you have ever installed.

if u just want to go back to a clean install of windows u will need a win xp cd how ever u will not have to purchase 1 if u still have ur win xp key there should be a sticker on ur pc with it

if you call up microsoft and get another copy probs be a £4 delivery charge thats it otherwise it is perfectly legal to download win xp cd of the internet the thing that cost the money is the serial number and since you got a dell pc they no doubt bought ur copy of windows meaning its all legal and above board or call dell for a resend of there cd or borrow 1 of sum one

let me juz clear up windows does not realy charge for the win xp cd they charge you for ur serial number
