If you are afraid of one or two but not the other then please explain. I feel that a lot of people are unnecessarily scared of traveling to some of these countries. Life is full of risks anyway, but of course we should be careful and avoid dangerous places. However, we shouldn't exaggerate the danger because of isolated incidents.

Syria and Kuwait, OK. Egypt is a bit iffy because I know there are Islamic radical groups active there and there have been attacks in the past few years. Cairo would probably be OK though.
Countries I would NEVER visit for a while are Afghanistan, Iraq and Saudi Arabia

I'd LOVE to visit Egypt and see the Great Pyramids of Giza. My husband was there for six months in the Army back before we started dating and I've seen pictures and we often talk about going there together one day, but that area of the world of sketchy right now. Then again, it has been like that for a long time. If I had the opportunity (and a babysitter) I think we'd go anyway. The pyramids are just something I'd love to see before I die.

The Australian frequently updates risks for travellers according to particular countries on it's website. It may err on the side of caution but then again, being a government, may be privy to information that normally may not be available to mere mortals like myself. So I just follow the advice it gives.

You may be right that I am unreasonably wary of traveling to the countries you listed, but I would like to see all conflict between the U.S. and any Arab nation end before I travel to an Arab nation. I would love to see Egypt before I die, but I have our own president to thank for my never feeling comfortable enough to see Egypt.

Adel,It isn't that I am afraid to travel to these places, it is just that I didn't lose anything over there and have absolutely no reason to want to visit. If I'm going to take a trip - make mine a cruise preferably in the Caribbean!!

Not afraid -- no money. I would love to go to Egypt. Our friend is from Egypt and
would love to go over when he and his wife go over. I'd love to see his country
first hand. I've always been fascinated by Egypt long before we met our friend.

Ummm... a little thing called TERRORISTS! Yes, life is full of dangerous, but why put yourself in unnecessary danger if you can avoid it?

On account of terrorism...otherwise I might think about it. I will need a few years to regain my trust in people after all that has happened. Isolated incidents? No honey....pay attention.....
Thanks
