Yes. I measure them one at a time. Each child I help think straight, that I show that life is not a quagmire of peer-pressure. I want them to know that an adult out here will be honest to them. No pushing morals.
They are smart. Give them the facts, they will be able to make their own decision. It doesn't have to be the right decision in your or mine, eyes. It only has to be right in their eyes. They, all too much, realize the consequences of a bad decision. Maybe it's their best friend getting pregnant, their best friend caught in a drive by. My childhood didn't have such a survival game.
Each one I can help, each little girl I can get to postpone her first french kiss until older, each little boy i can get to believe it is NOT OK to stand naked in front of their coach, I measure that as one more goal met. What do you think?
