Used to be the heart of cockney East London, Not now though.International is right, every nationality under the sun, except English. Whether its OK to live there depends bit on your nationality. Wouldn't go near it myself.

Bethnal Green has *very* good access to the centre of town, you can be in the West End in minutes on the central line (until 12.30 at night, it will take longer if you have to get the bus). It is also very close to Brick Lane which is a trendy place to go for a curry or a few drinks and a dance if night life is your thing.

The area itself is a little bit shabby, but quite green compared to other bits of the East End and the rent/house prices are still reasonably cheap.

Traditionally a little down-at- heel, but its proximity to the financial district means that it has become quite desirable in the last few years. Now it is full of expensive sudio flats owned by rich city boys, where once it was solidly the heart of working class Cockney London.

It has very good transport links (Oxford Circus is only about 15 minutes away on the tube) and is very "international"..but thats true of the whole of London..

not somewhere I'd choose to live personally but if you want to be near central London its ideal and yes there is a diversity of people and cultures in that area road traffic/links are always very heavy at peak times due to the close proximity to the city - plenty of cheap markets around there to
