I grew up in Framingham. Downtown Framingham is not that bad. By the way, Framingham Center and Downtown Framingham are two different places. The only reason people are afraid of Framingham is because it is very ethnically diverse. So stop stereotyping. Big Up to the South Side of Framingham!!! Stop being an idiot and get your facts straight Pitchbowl!!!

Framingham Centre is a nice area, and right next to a college campus (Framingham State College). Downtown Framingham, on the other hand, is kinda scary - I'd stay away from there if at all possible. Finding a decent place to live in Framingham itself can be hard, since houses there are very expensive (at least they are in the nice part of town) and I expect the apartments are expensive, too. I would try to find a place farther away from downtown Framingham if you can, like in Marlborough or Hudson or Ashland.

Framingham, especially Framingham Center, is not the most pleasant of neighborhoods. There are a few nice areas of Framingham, but they are basically bordering the better towns (Wayland, Natick, Southboro, Ashland). I also live in Natick, and I would happily pay more for rent there than listen to bomba played at full blast by my neighbors at 3AM.
