Only if you aren't able, for instance if you are in a mental institution and under a doctor's orders. That and perhaps if you are still a minor, are the only logical reasons that I can think of, otherwise you should be perfectly able and should make your own decisions. I would not let anyone else force you or let someone else do it, unless you want them to.

Since I haven't got a significant other, I don't have someone I need to check in with before I make commitments that affect the two of us. Decisions that affect me and only me, I make those.

I am responsible for me and to me.
