When my daughter was a baby I didn't know any lullibyes, so I sang Silent Night, and Amazing Grace. They were the calmest songs I knew all the words to. I sang them to my son too, since it always worked for her.

my grandma used to sing me these when i was a baby:
torra lorra (sp?) it's an irish lullaby
where have all the flowers gone
poor babes in the woods
hush little baby
the national anthem (idk why she did, but i liked it)
the one that goes "a cherry when its bloomin' it has no stone, a chicken when its pippin' it has no bone, a ring that is forever (meaning a wedding ring)it has no end and a baby when its sleepin' has no cryin' " thers 3 verses to it but i only remember that one

Okay, so it's not Christmas, but I always used to sing "Silent Night" to my kids when they were babies and it put them right to sleep...I guess the rocking helped too!

If its for your child, then make it up. It comes from the heart which makes the real beauty of the song.

And ones made yourself. They are the ones with real meaning, and the kind children will remember, and sing to their children, and so on...
