The Intel Core 2 Duo e4300 is faster than any P4 or PD period, regarless of clock speed.

The Core 2's have a new architechture and perform more instructions per clock cycle than the older P4 or PD.

The Intel Core Duo E6300 would be your best choice! It's clock speed is slower than the Pentium yes, but the FSB speed is what counts now-a-days. Go for the E6300.

Duo core is faster but the problem is they're Dell. Loaded with junkware and is not easily upgradable.
