Is there a formula to figure out the extra taxes you pay by working in NY (as a NJ resident) versus working in NJ? Reason I ask is because I may change jobs and need to knwo what is the amount to break even? I will also add in commutation expenses once I learn the "tax" cost. Thanks all.

i am in the same boat as you are. realize also time is a big factor too, opportunity lost. if you make 30000 in new jersey, the same job should be paying 36,000 in nyc.

remember a big factor is what type of job are you applying for. 99 percent of time, get job in new jersey
