Many charities and some schools now accept used printer cartridges and cell phones as donations - they can send them in for the refund. If you feel like doing a good deed, you can check your local or favorite charity and see if they will take them off your hands.

The Cartridge Family will pick up empty cartridges at no charge (they will ship you the pre-paid envelope to send it back) if you are an existing customer. They are also a small, veteran owned business with great customer service so you can feel good about doing business with them. Check out how they remanufacture and reuse cartridges on their product info page: http://thecartridgefamily.net/productinfo.php

There are also stores that remanufacture them - they will usually give you a discount on purchasing a remanufactured cartridge and they are usually much cheaper to buy. Here in Oregon Rapid Refill Ink is one such place. I've only had a problem once with a remanufactured cartridge from them (not refilled - remanufactured) and they replaced it with no problem.

Staples (office supply store) takes them, and they often give you something in return. At one time they gave a free ream of paper, the last time I took one in, they were giving $3 coupons good for any purchase.
