The Answerer saying Japan started WWII, you need to understand global war and regional war. The japanese true invaded manchuria earlier, however, their invasion was nothing more thean the conquest for expansion and natural resources. And the invasion there did not involve hostile intervention globally. In that case you could directly associate the Revolutionary War in the US to the 7 Years war and say the & Years war caused the Revolutionary War. It may have opened up the idea but it was not directly the cause.
First to correct one of the answerers remarks, The German people did not want to expand their lands, they wanted to reclaim the Germanic states that were taken away from them in the Treaty of Versailles. (the treaty that ended WWI)
The first principle is that any person leading Germany would be working to reverse every provision of Versailles as the entire treaty was imposed by criminal means, duress, causing a half million deaths, murder to force a signature.
In August of 1939, Most of Europe had looked the other way as the Nazis annexed portions of neighboring countries, but the leaders of France and Britain knew that an outright invasion of Poland must not be ignored.
So, realistically, the Treaty of Versailles had many flaws and caused the Germanic states to be broken into parts and given to countries whereas, the German language was not spoken.
WWII was caused by many inequalities like, Treaty of Versailles, Tripatite Alliance, and Poland's invasion of Czechoslovakia.
Finally, yes Hitler ordered the beginning of WWII but, it is said that any other leader would have done the same thing because of the unfairness of the Treaty of Versailles.
Maybe, when the League of Nations set up the treaty they set the world up for another World War by accident?

Short Answer: Hitler, Germany.
Long Anwer:
Hitler's Ambitions.
Adolf Hitler wanted more land, especially in the east, to expand Germany according to the Nazi policy of lebensraum. Hitler used the harsh limitations that were set against Germany in the Versailles Treaty as a pretext for Germany's right to acquire land where German-speaking people lived. Germany successfully used this reasoning to envelop two entire countries without starting a war.
The Excuse.
After having gained both Austria and Czechoslovakia, Hitler was confident that he could again move east, this time acquiring Poland without having to fight Britain and France. (To eliminate the possibility of the Soviet Union fighting if Poland were attacked, Hitler made a pact with the Soviet Union - the Nazi-Soviet Non-Aggression Pact.)
Blitzkrieg.
At 4:45 on the morning of September 1, 1939 (the morning following the staged attack), German troops entered Poland. The sudden, immense attack by the Germans was called a Blitzkrieg ("lightening war").
Declarations of War.
On September 1, the beginning of the German attack, Great Britain and France sent Hitler an ultimatum - withdraw German forces from Poland or Great Britain and France would go to war against Germany.
On September 3, with Germany's forces penetrating deeper into Poland, Great Britain and France both declared war on Germany.
World War II had begun.

international conflict II began in many situations because of the fact the american human beings have been unwilling to connect the League of countries on the top of international conflict I, thereby removing what could have been that enterprise's considerable militia potential. This led to, or allowed a minimum of, Hitler's upward push to potential in Germany. there have been various factors at which he exchange into thoroughly overextended and any form of a prepare of tension by employing the League or maybe basically a number of its member countries could have placed an end to his plans, however the different eu powers consistently caved in to him, appeasing him at exceptionally much each turn and permitting the territory, manpower and uncooked supplies under his rule to repeatedly improve. Then while the Friendship %. between Germany and Russia exchange into signed, his lower back exchange into coated and he might desire to attack, first Poland and then the countries to the west. American isolationism exchange into the main reason.

Everyone knows the start of the European Theater, NOT THE TRUE START OF WWII.
The Japanese, lead by the Prime Minister Tojo, started world war two in 1931 by invading Manchuria ( the area of China, North of Korea) The League of Nations tried to stop the Japanese as they marched through China. The Japanese did not care about the League's protests and sanctions on them on Non-important imports. The failure of the League on Japan embolden by the Nations of Germany and Italy to make their moves to war.

My 20th Century History Professor saw your answers and said," If this was the only question in my test everyone but MG would have FAILED! They need to study."
My 20th century History Book, " When Japanese invaded the lands of China the fire that would become World War Two began to burn. In their move to attack China, they showed that the League of Nations was powerless to stop any Aggressor.
Imperator: The League of Nations did not write the Treaty of Versailles. The Allied Powers of WWI did at the Paris Peace Conference. It shows how well you studied History. Dis you say you have a Masters Degree in History? NO MASTER WOULD MAKE THAT MISTAKE. Kids learned that in Elementary school.
Also you forgot that China was an Allie in World War two. Remember " THE HUMP." It is sad that you are teaching are future citizens. The US and Britian were fighting in China against Japan when they entered WWII, that makes China part of WWII also. It's not all about the west DUH.
Also I don't Think that most of Czechoslovakia belong to Germany before WWI and Why would he take Austria. It was a whole diffrent Country in WWI and was only an Allie to Germany. YOU MUST HAVE JUST PASS IN COLLEGE. He should have only taken the areas that belong to Germany before World War one. ( Western Poland, a chunk of Southern Denmark, The Sunderland, Alsonce & Lorriane) by your Idea, NOT THE WHOLE COUNTRY of non-Pre WWI German Territory (Austria, Czecgolovakia) as he did
Here is the List
Japan 1931 Manchuria
Italy 1935 Ethopia
Germay 1936 remilitarization of the Rineland
Germany 1938 Anschluss (Combineing of Germany and Austria)
Germany late 1938 Taking of Czechoslovakia
Germay 1939 Invasion of Poland
By the way, I got best answer for a similer Question. I answered the same way as I did here.
