I own a transmission shop, and I can tell you DO NOT put brake fluid in it!!! Use Dexron/Mercon fluid, as this will cover most all transmissions. The "68" used just plain Dexron, but I don't think they even make straight Dexron anymore. We use the Dexron with Mercon on all the vehicles we work on in the shop, and they work just fine. Since the new fluids don't contain whale oil anymore, it is a good idea to add something to replace the longevity and friction capabilities of the whale oil. A very good product we have used for years is a product called "Lube-Guard" that you can get from most any parts store. You must make sure you purchase the correct lube-guard for your application. I believe the one you need is the black bottle, but check to make certain. A word of caution; Do Not use more of this product than recommened by the manufacture, as this stuff can make a transmission slip when used in excess. Once it has been added to a fluid change, don't add it again but every 2nd-3rd change. This is because you can't get all the fluid out of the torque converter when changing fluid, an exception would be one that has a drain plug in the torque converter.
Glad to help out, Good Luck!!!
