My Aunts grandchildren came over from ireland over the summer and we got talking about the shape of certain countries when looked at from space and me being an idiot went and said "oh yes and Ireland is shaped like a flying pig" - i didn't mean to offend anyone and the boys laughed, but then i thought maybe it could be considered racist, or politically incorrect!I didn't mean it to offend and to my knowldge i don't think they were, but is it offensive? Thanks in advance.xx

nian3555 and waiching liu are the ones reporting everyone for no reason, report them back and point out that people at Yahoo do not have the right to censor us just cos we don't agree or sympathise with them.

Offense is in the eye of the beholder. I can't see any problem in commenting on the shape of a land mass, and pigs aren't a sensitive issue to Irish citizens (otatoes possibly, but not pigs). But everyone is an individual. You can't be responsible for everyone's feelings.

The boys laughed. That should be good enough. If you're still worried, ask and offer to apologize. But I don't think it's a problem.

If they weren't offended, then it wasn't offensive. If someone was offended mildly apologize. PC has gone to far! You proved your love for them while they were visiting, I'm sure, and if the country looks like a flying pig, so what! Maybe you shouldn't spout that analogy in an Irish bar on St. Paddy's Day, however.

No it is not offensive. Italy is shaped like a boot, so what? They laughed, didn't they? Be politically incorrect once in a while. It's good for you. Laugh along with them and forget it.

I hope they weren't offended. We all could use a really good laugh. I think the Irish can laugh at themselves. I am so fed up with all of the politically correct nonsense.

Do be aware that foreign folks, are more literal about terms than we are and it can cause some concerns, just be funny and laugh it out. Humor is universal.
