I saw the movie "Cube", loved it, and figured "Cube Zero" might be able to answer questions, being that it's supposed to be a prequel. It answered my questions with more questions, and the one that sticks out the most...are the characters Wynn, from Zero, and Kazan, from the original, the same person? Or was Kazan just a technician like Wynn? I've looked around on a bunch of bloggy websites, but I haven't been able to find any definitive answers. I HAVE TO KNOW THE ANSWER!!! I'm sure, of course, that this question is brought up by design, and we're just supposed to keep on wondering, but if anybody has a definitive answer or link, PLEASE SHARE!

I have seen both, plus Cube 2: Hypercube. Now, I don't have a definitive link, but here's the way I see it. Cube Zero was the prequel for Cube, the premise of how it all started. As you notice, in Cube there is a completely different cast and setup. Also, Kazan and Wynn are 2 completely different characters, Kazan was too skinny to be Wynn. Granted, it could be true that Kazan was in a similar situation to Wynn (or not, who knows - as they never go into Kazan's past), but I seriously doubt they were the same person considering the different types of constructs. Also considering I think it would still be Wynn not Kazan in Cube.

No, he is not. The scene at the end of Zero is weird, I give you that as it looks a lot like the scene from the original when Kazan meets with the other ones, but that's not Kazan. In Zero there are 2 women and 1 man that encounters Wynn. Their names are Chandler, McCaw and Smith. In the similar scene from Cube, Kazan meets up with two men and a woman: Quentin, Worth and Holloway (excluding Leaven that was knocked out). I know, some may say it doesn't have to be the same scene for Wynn to be Kazan. But that would imply Wynn reentering the cube under another alias which is unlikely since, when you are in the cube, you will die either from traps, starvation or burned by the technicians. Sure, you could answer yes to the God question, but we don't know what will happen since no one ever did that.

While Wynn and Kazan (Andrew Miller) possess many of the same mannerisms, especially following Wynn's lobotomy, the director explains (in the DVD commentary) that they are NOT meant to be the same character. His purpose for including Wynn in the movie was to explain to the audience how Kazan came to be mentally handicapped and to inform the viewers that Kazan was originally an employee, just like Wynn.

I have re-watched all 3 movies a few hours ago and I think Winn is indeed Kazan, but the producers changed his name so that Cube Zero, which was the last one produced, doesn't give us direct clues from the beginning of the movie, to keep the mystery until the end :)
