Only if their whole life is wrapped around the Bible. In such a situation a person seems to lose all of their personal identity. I believe in God but I sure don't want him crammed down my throat. I have my own beliefs as to how and why things happened and until someone can sensibly answer my doubts I will stick with my beliefs.

I believe that some people take the word of whoever explained the Bible to them as "this is the way it is and ANYONE who speaks otherwise is wrong." I believe there are many interpretations of the Bible and there is no one on earth today who can explain it properly.

If the person only quotes the Bible every once in a while I see no reason to lose respect for him/her. Sylvia

No, not at all. It takes a lot more than that to cause me to lose respect for a person but there are some people who will not use any other source for an answer and it bothers me in some ways but I still respect them.

Not at all.....unless they're misquoting or using it as a bludgeon or to point a finger....
The sad truth is, that it offends non-believers and does nothing to draw them to the Bible; further, it deepens the divide between believers and non.
I really think some sincere Christians believe that naming the Bible as their source is good "witnessing", when to a non-believer it's actually a huge turn-off and cause for offense.
I do it sometimes because it's the truth (though I try to use good judgement) ; even though I know it could cause offense, I can't temper the truth or dilute it just because some are not familiar with it.

if its thier only source for every answer.. yes.

but I have great respect for people who make an effort to live a spiritual life with moral guidlines. pretty much all major religeons have the same guidlines about honesty , integrity, charity and kindness etc.

I pay attention to how much someone actually lives by the words they preach, not how loud or often they preach them.

when it begins to bother me is when it gets preachy or pushy, and people ar unable to look at things from a place of tolerance and balance.

No. I lose respect for those who disrespect the Bible. It is the written Word of God and those who choose to disregard it do so at the cost of their eternal soul. I'm not kidding.

Depends on the question.

1.Who parted the red sea, No , no loss of respect

2. Who do you think will be president. Big time loss of respect.

Everything is relative.

Um, no. I go to a christian school, so at my school that's all you get. Unless you're asking a school-related question. The Bible isn't a bad place to go if you're asking for advice. I personally LOVE the Bible!!!

If they only cite that, yes. A lot depends on the context which it is being referenced
