My favorite is the Oriental Institute Museum on the University of Chicago campus. It's full of Egyptian, Nubian and Mesopotamian artifacts, sculptures, art, mummies and more.

I live in Orlando, FL - Home of Theme parks and strip malls. But we do have Morse Museum and its huge Tiffany Glass Collection (Winter Park). The Orlando Museum of Art is not quite 'great' but it's worth a look

The Adirondack Museum in Blue Mountain Lake, NY. Total history of the Adirondacks and how it came to be. The tour takes 2 days to see. I encourage anyone to go. You won't be disappointed.
