I do agree. Artist these days (if you can CALL them artist) have no originality at all. They all try to sound alike...let me rephrase that...they all DO sound alike! What ever happened to playing instruments and writing your OWN damn songs?!! That's why I don't listen to today's pop music. I only listen to REAL artists.

I am a professional musician and high school band director. In popular music weather you're talking about rap, country, alternative/garage band music, or whatever, there isn't much original stuff out there. This is because after a while in the recording business, people stopped writing songs to write a good song, they did this to sell copies.

This is an unfortunate truth and the main reason I never listen to popular music. I mainly listen to instrumental band music, orchestral pieces, and jazz.

Hope this helps.

Well, there are lots of songs that flawlessly sum-up bits of my lifestyles, and {unusually} one of the most parties within the tale I'm writing. But, to keep on with the factor for as soon as {!}, this distinct music continues making me suppose of a special warfare the UK & US are presently combating :~ Child In Time ~ Deep Purple Mond Tanz / Child In Time ~ Blackmore's Night "Sweet youngster in time, you can see the road The line that is drawn among the well and the unhealthy See the blind guy - capturing on the international Bullets flying, taking toll If you will have been unhealthy - oh lord I guess you could have And you will have now not been hit by means of flying lead You'd larger near your eyes, bow your head Wait for the ricochet" Though of path, you might practice the ones lyrics to practically any main clash of the final ninety-years. And simply in case nobody is familiar with what I imply, I suppose it somes up the attitudes of the polititians ~ the individuals who don't seem to be honestly in the market having to battle. One day, it's going to all come again on them.

Consider the possibilities available in a combination of just ten notes, just using one octave of twelve notes. Note 1 has 12 possibilities. Note 2 also has 12 possibilities, etc. There is 12x12x12x12x12x12x12x12x12x12 possibilities. That is 61, 917, 364, 224. Now multiply that by the various possibilities of note lengths, octaves available, etc. I doubt we'll run out soon.

in the sixties, yoko ono said that all the avenues for music had been explored. it's certainly getting harder to come up with high quality, original music that sounds remotely like anything in the rock category. i think that's why tribute bands abound. it's also why so many people [read: rappers] put spins on the good and the old.

it's not over, though. even the Beatles and elvis ripped off SOMEBODY. and music will keep plodding on.

Yeah, every song is beginning to sound like another song that was on the radio. You can't tell any rap songs apart.

There will always be innovators, but you're right - to a degree. Much of what happens in the future will be recycling what has happened in the past.

This isn't anything new, though.
