Just go to a dealer, explain that you need a new key made. They will want to see your driver's license and proof that you actually own it--they can get your VIN and run it through the computer.

That happened to me and my husband at Niagara Falls (we live in Ohio). We just took a cab to a Ford dealer, showed proof of ID, and they made a key for us--cost a few dollars.

What kind of car? You usually can go to a dealership and tell them your vin number (you may have to bring the title so that they know youre not stealing a car). Also try www.streetkeys.com. they are usually resourceful. Helpful idea: When you do get keys made make sure to get multiple keys made for if you lose them again.

Hope this helps. Have a great day

dealers can provide keys for cars that fall in a certain age range - lock smith has a tool that he inserts in the lock cylinder to read the cut codes - he can cut a set also.
