Teachers are professionals, and as such, teachers talk about their students so everyone can better teach the collective student body.
If your teacher is talking about you to other teachers, then (s)he is probably talking about other every student as well. This is how teaching gets done.
Realize when adults talk it is not ONLY gossip. Also, it is better that she is talking rather than not caring.
Good Luck....

Well teachers often talk about their students. In fact any professional will talk about their customers or clients. Sometimes to complain or simply just to compare.
To say it isn't right, is in fact stupid, because there is no real problem. There are some issues about privacy, but for this situation it is a little more complicated that saying the classroom is private, because in reality it isn't.
As teacher, I don't like sitting around complaining about students, and some highly unprofessional teachers will do this. However, we sometimes we will discuss a problem and how to solve it, on other occasions we will talk about something a students does, maybe funny, crazy or just good work.
Your teacher's friend's might know about you because of one description or one particular example.
Important note, if a teacher is going around telling other teachers and students very negative comments about you, then you have a real problem. Because then other teachers and people at school, see you in a negative and unfair way. Unfortunately complaining about it will only make the problem worse.
School is mostly a bad deal for students, and there are lots of bad teachers. But at the moment you don't know if it is a good or bad thing, so don't worry too much. You probably have a reputation for brilliance, creativity and hardwork.

As a teacher, I spend a lot of my time at breaks etc talking about students with other teachers.
We talk about the god, bad and the ugly!! At briefings we get all the gossip on students either problems, issues, health problems, home problems etc so we know to be extra nice, keep an eye out for them or give them some space.
If something funny happened or good happened (eg awards) it may be announced to the entire staff!!! So I wouldn't worry, its life and its perfectly normal. I also have said to students about something that happened and they look at me like..."how did you know that??"....even if I haven't had them before..some students are imfamous@!!

As many of the posters have said...it comes with the territory...it's called collaboration...as we don't have direct contact with all the students on a regular basis, we rely on others to fill us in...and again as others have said...it's not about gossiping (but I won't lie, some of that goes on in the staff rooms...personally I don't like it)...all this information helps us better plan our lessons, arrange the seating, and understand individual students, especially those with behavioural issues or special needs...in turn we can do a better job of creating an environment that is conducive to learning.

My Mom was a teacher and I know for a fact they talk good and bad about different students. You would know if she was talking good or bad about you because you are the only one who really knows how you are doing in school. If you are a good student, attentive and follow the rules....it's probably good talk. If you are disruptive, skip classes, etc., it's probably bad talk. Everyone talks about people, no matter what job they have. It just so happens that teachers talk about students (but they also talk about other teachers, believe me!!)

Teachers often talk about students good and bad together. They share experience. It helps them to unwind and feel better.

Try to investigate if she talks good or bad things about you. If she says bad things, talk to the principal. if she says good things, good for you.

This is not right and you should report it to your principal or the school board.
