i would have to say Fantasia not only because she has a great distinct voice and is sellling millions of records, but her talent has a personal true story that was even made into a movie on Lifetime. Most singers who were discovered "normally" usually have a long tale of how they got to where they are now. They didnt just enter some contest coming from "Redland Highschool's best singer in Advanced Choir". Fantasia has taken alot of heat for her background but she has not let it determine her future or ruin her dream.

I hate american idol and all the publicity behind it, but I'd say the most talented winner from that show would have to be Kelly Clarkson.

Chris Daughtry....Sure he didn't win, but he didn't need American Idol to become a star. He sure is more famous than ol' whats-his-face...the gray-haired old man who won....
