The story of the visitor who came to church to speak. The pastor introduced him and the visitor told a story about how a man and his son and his son's best friend had gone deep sea fishing and were caught in a storm. The two teen boys fell overboard and were screaming for help. The father stood for a moment, torn. Then he yelled, "I love you son!" and threw the life preserver to the son's friend. After the service some boys came up and said, "That story can't really be true can it?" And the visitor said, "Yes, it sure is. I know it becasue I am that father and your pastor was my son's best friend."

A young man I worked with had lived in a refugee camp in southeast Asia when he was about 13.
He lived there for almost a year and there was not enough $$$ for medical care or staff to remove the deceased .
He often went about his day with the bodies of people who had passed along the walkways .
He survived and went on to get an education and good job . He was a very pleasant person and even married a nice girl . He was never bitter or hostile .
