It could be. My first son had two teeth at 3 months. However, my daughter has been drooling forever. She just got her third tooth at 10 months.

It is likely that he is teething. My son started teething at 3 months and is just getting his first one. My nephew was born with a tooth and I've heard of babies being born with as many as 3 teeth! Just because the parenting book says it should happen at a certain age, doesn't make it so. I would start stocking up on some teething items. Make sure to get both soft and hard items to teeth on. Make sure to mention it at your next Dr. visit. He will know for sure.

He could definitely be teething. I had a friend who had a baby which was born with teeth!! Does your baby have a fever? Runny nappies? These may also be signs of teething. Take note if he is any grumpier than usual. Teething can sometimes be a lengthy process and the drool can last for months and months.

My son started slobbering like crazy when he was 3 months old but didn't get his first tooth until he was 7 months and 2 weeks old.

Probably still a bit too early to be teething (though not unheard of). Most babies break their first tooth between 4 and 7 months old. Drooling is par for the course with babies, although they do tend to step up drool production during teething.

Most babies don't start teething till they are around 6 months or older. He could just be playing with his tongue and producing more saliva.
