If Millen gets final say they will pick Quinn. If Marinelli gets final say they will take Gaines Adams and here is why;

Millen would favor Quinn for a couple of reasons, one to quiet some of the drumbeating by the fans and beatwriters but most importantly it is a great job security bargaining position. If he can convince Ford (not such a hard sell) that he has the franchise QB finally he will remind everyone who will listen that franchise QBs take time to develop so he cant be judged right away on his pick....give me 3 years and Quinn is the next Manning, brady, Montana....you get the idea.

Marinelli goes D....here is a guy brought in by Millen allegedly to make them a tough team defensively to play against. His forte...defensive football. The cover 2 schemes he favors require at least one speed rusher from the edge ( Simien Rice in TB...Marinelli said he was the key lineman for him while he was there). Gaines Adams is a player that is incredibly similar to Rice and provides an explosive end to create the mismatches the cover 2 needs to be successful. The only defensive guy on the board that can help from the 2nd pick is Adams so Marinelli insists Millen takes him.

The one thing we will know for sure after the first pick is whether or not Millen or marinelli will have more say in the look of the Lions (lets pray it is Marinelli...we have already seen what Millen cant do!)

Personally I think Johnson is going #1, either to the Raiders or a trade up team. At #2 I think the Lions will take Russell. They need a franchise QB and someone to put butts in the seats. And Gaines Adams isn't going to fulfill either of those needs.

In that scenario, the Lions would have to take Russell and then try to trade him on draft day for a player and picks from another team. You have to take the best player available drafting that high, forget your team needs for a moment and pick up the most value. But as someone else mentioned, this is the Lions and they might do something stupid, like let the clock run out without picking....lol

lions have a lot of needs most of them is on D and this is a offensive heavy draft basically there choices are JaMarcus Russell or Leon Hall as far as drafting they could also trade and try to grab a franchise player who wants to leave the team he is on (I.E. Samuel from Pats Briggs from Bears) but Russell is (87%) going to the raiders and lions will probably get a cb or o linemen
