My landlord claims to have given notice, but I've never received any. So, now he comes with the constable, and says I have ubtil the weekend to come get my things. I called him today, and he let me in. However, most of my things have been stolen! Isn't he responsible for my belongings since the locks have been changed? Phoenix, AZ is where I live. My computer was among the things missing. Will an attorney represent me? Anyone, please help!

I forgot to mention that I paid my rent to my roommate, who did not pay the rent, nor did he tell me that he did not pay the rent. I was caught by surprise, or I would have made other arrangements.

you can call the police and report the items stolen, you don't know that he stole them, and he is not responsible for someone breaking into you apartment and stealing the items. If he is caught with the items after you file the police report then he will be in big trouble because he can't break into your apartrment and steal your personal belongings.

These things don't happen when you pay your rent. Why is it all everyone elses fault but not yours. Take some personal responsibility for a change. File a police report on the stolen items and then pay your bills.

Claim you never received a letter, ask for proof that you receive this letter. IE notarized or UPS signature etc. if your landlord can not provide one either claim 1 he never sent one, or 2 he tampered with your mail...yes he does have a key to your mail box. Also he should not have sent one but 2-3 notices.

if you have cash for a lawyer they will help, they will not for free, your best bet if you feel you stuff was stolen is to immediately make out a police report then file in small claims against the landlord for the things stolen
