Depends on what part.

Detroit proper is terrible, but the burbs are good.

Flint is a no! 14% unemployment and run down.

Grand Rapids is nice

Lansing is OK

I just moved out of the state due to the highest unemployment in the country at 7% and it's not going to get any better with the automotive industry suffering.

I grew up in Michigan and love the state, but not the governor and unemployment rate. Taxes are going up also.

I love Michigan, Kalamazoo and Grand rapids are great. Small places with no ghetto areas. Detroit is creepy, and Ann Arbor is amazing GO BLUE! Northern Michigan like Traverse City is great. Tree's and open space is what thats like.

I dont think MI is a good choice. Long winter-Lots of snow-Detroit is scary.
I will never think to move there, unless there is a very good job with big bucks waiting .
If you want to experience cold weather, Minnesota is a nice (and the coldest) state

Northern Michigan is fantastic; beautiful scenary and prestine lakes BUT it does get cold in the winter. Really depends on why you're moving there.....work ? Vacation ? Retirement ?

there are no jobs and we are losing jobs everyday.schools are closing and its almost impossible to sell your house and leave the state because of the loss of jobs.winters are long and hard and dont even think of going anywhere around detroit! it is the worst city in america for crime.stay in the south like charleston, raleigh or atlanta.good luck wherever you go.if you come to detroit dont forget your kevlar vest! for real!
