I have WIN XP and I use to have the place where you can go and check or uncheck all the programs that start on start up and cannot find it. I remember it was hard to get to but its there... There must be a ton of programs starting when I turn on the computer. Its NOT in the Add / Delete section under control panel..there was another place that had boxes next to them to check or uncheck them on start up. Thanks alot.

Click START, then click RUN.

Type in MSCONFIG and hit enter.

The startup programs are on the startup tab.

Go to the Start Menu. Then, click "Run..." Type in "msconfig." Click on the "Startup" tab. Just uncheck all the programs you don't want to run when you start up Windows.
