your question makes no sense. all Asian parents don't raise their kids the same so what are you talking about. I think you wasted good computer ink by typing that question.

Well it has brought to life some well needed truths. Since Agust 1, 1966, when Charles Whitman killed 16 people At Texas University, there have been 75 people killed in mass shootings at college campuses and univesities in the U.S. shooters have came from all walks of life white, black, Amish, and now, Korean. There is no ryme or reason to this senseles tragedy. According the the very anti-gun Brady Center for Gun Control 100,000 people each year use fireams to protect themselves in deadly situations. The NRA has the number closer to 1 million. the truth is probably somewhere in between. These deaths are horrific tragedies. I will not try to belittle that fact at all. However, going by the Brady numbers, had it not been for citizens using firearms in self defense 100,000 innocent victims could have died last year. According to an F.B.I. report release about six months ago, violent crime is down 38% overall since 1991. According to the stats from ATF, 70 million guns were purchsed during that time. So, anyone trying to make this about gun control really has a reality problem. We do not need gun control. We need nut control. Everytime one of these phychos goes over the edge people try to blame the gun. It's not the gun. It's the idiot pulling the trigger. This guy had been showing predatory and anti socail behavior since at least 2003. There aren't any real laws on the books saying he could be involutarily committed for observation . Even in states where that can be done, the obsevation is only 24 hours. If you want a 7 day waiting period on a gun , why not have a 7 day obsevation period for suspected nut cases like this guy. This shooting has touched my heart deeply. And it was so preventable. It sickens me to think about how the Brady Center people are now foaming at the mouth like the rabid dogs they are. They already have a plan in place for just such an event, I'm sure. What they should spend thier resouses on is a way to prevent mentally ill poeple like this from getting so sick in the first place. But, logic has never really been thier stong suit.

What are you saying? What does the recent Virginia Tech shootings have to do with Asian parents? Go look up statistics to find out how many killers out there are Asians, i.e. percentage of killers versus percentage of population. The killer at Virginia Tech was mentally sick unfortunately, and unfortunately the stupid rules and regulations at colleges make it difficult for college administration to share mental sickness diagnosis etc. and do anything about it because they are afraid of lawsuits. And do you know who make the most number of stupid lawsuits, definitely not Asians.
Most parents should raise their kids differently in America. Look at how most Latino and black kids are doing in school or have teenage pregnancy, or end up in jail, and how many white kids are bringing guns to school or getting drunk before 21 before you go after Asian parents for the wrong cause.

It should change the way parents all over the US raise their kids. Period. Little children can be cruel and ruthless bullies. Parents need to start raising their children to leave others alone and to go to school to learn and not to tease and to taunt the weak. My heart goes out to the families on both sides of the issue, but...Cho was victimized for long, long years and sadly, everything came to a boiling-point earlier this week. I hate that he killed innocents, but the ones who need to feel bad are the people who bullied him when he was younger and even into adulthood.
I raised my son and I think I did a pretty good job of drilling this one thing (among many others) into his head; DO NOT bother people who aren't bothering you. This was something I taught to him since his nursery school days. AND...I also took it a step further; if someone bothers you without cause, you have my permission to 'mop-the-floor' with their bare @ss! He didn't have to do that but one time and the bully NEVER bothered him again. I really hate that Cho's parents didn't teach him the coping skills needed to get along in this society.
It's all water-under-the-bridge, at this point, and nothing we do or say will bring the dead back. What we can do is to raise our kids up NOT to be mean-spirited bullies!

I think the Virginia Tech shootings will affect how ALL parents raise their kids. You can't single out a single group of people. The shootings affected a lot of people directly, as well as indirectly, as well as a lot of DIFFERENT people.
So technically, I guess the answer is yes.

Why should it? You're assuming that somehow this is an "Asian" problem. As I recall, Dylan Klebold and Eric Harris were white and from relatively good families. In fact, I can't recall of an another Asian mass murderer. Can you?
There are different groups that are supposedly known for pushing their children to succeed. There are also different groups that are supposedly known for being uninvolved in their children's education. It strikes me that even if such stereotypes are true, they no more "cause" a person go off the deep end than any of a number of other factors.
Like most things in life, people usually do things for more than one reason...

why should it just affect ASIAN parents ?! what the heck is wrong with you ?! yeah, an asian guy shot up the campus of Virgina Tech. but two CAUCASION males shot up columbine. you make this seem as if this is an ASIAN problem. go online and look for any asian mass murderer, and come back here with your answer. this is a wakeup call to every parent out there to pay more attention to their kids. it`s not an asian problem, you ****.

Not only that, Every parent is going to make their kids carry a cell phone at all times! This country is so screwed up it's pathetic! When I went to school you weren't locked up like criminals. The teachers might as well put on a badge along with their pistol!! There is also the fact that the lunches they fix aren't any better than what the inmates HAVE to eat!!!!
You might as well put on your striped uniform now, it's just a matter of time before they make school uniforms mandatory!

Why would it? Do you see white people changing the way we raise our children because of Columbine and other school shootings that were done by white people? That may be the silliest question I've ever read and I've read a lot of them on here in the past!
