2. diffusion, osmosis, active transport, facilitated transport, bulk transport (endocytosis and exocytosis)

4. any enzymes (lactase), hemoglobin, keratin, actin, antibodies

9.
-- DNA is unzipped in the area of a gene.
-- mRNA is built by matching RNA nucleotides to the unmatched nitrogen bases of the gene; this is transcription
-- mRNA detaches and goes out of the nucleus to a ribosome; the DNA closes back together
-- Ribosomal subunits clamp onto the mRNA to begin translation
-- tRNA brings amino acids to the growing polypeptide chain. tRNA matches its 3-base anticodon to the 3-base codon of mRNA. This matching process ensures that amino acids are connected in the right order.
-- When the polypeptide is complete, it folds into a specific shape -- the finished protein.

13. UCAGUA
14. for tRNA you have to go one step further -- what tRNA bases match with the mRNA? AGUCAU

15. The rough endoplasmic reticulum receives the proteins as they are made by the ribosomes on the e.r. surface. The rough e.r. may modify these proteins a bit, and the e.r. transports these proteins to the neighborhood of a Golgi apparatus. The proteins are packaged in a little bubble-like sac called a vesicle. The vesicle is made out of a portion of the e.r. membrane. The vesicle transfers the proteins from the e.r. to the Golgi apparatus.
